Aikido Association of America

Chushinkan Dojo is a member of the Aikido Association of America (AAA), Western Region.  The AAA was founded by the late Fumio Toyoda Shihan and has continued under the Toyoda family with his son, Stephen Tatsuo Toyoda Sensei. The AAA is based in Chicago. Its mission is to promote training in the art of Aikido, to foster quality, professional Aikido instruction, and to ensure continuation of the teachings of Fumio Toyoda Shihan.

Aikido World Headquarters (Hombu Dojo) in Japan carries on the traditions and practice of Aikido internationally through various organizations. As part of this network, the AAA is an extension of Hombu Dojo, and has a close relationship with Kobayashi Dojo in Japan.

The AAA provides instruction in all aspects of Aikido, recognition of schools, rank certification by standardized tests, and instructor certification. It currently has more than 100 affiliated dojos worldwide.

An active calendar of AAA seminars and cultural events ensures that students from all over the world have regular opportunities to receive instruction from Teaching Committee instructors. Instructor Seminars are held annually to renew teaching certifications.
